The six largest pharmacy benefit managers control 94 percent of all prescriptions in the United States, contributing to higher drug costs and driving out independent pharmacies, the Federal Trade Commission stated in a report released Tuesday.
The FTC released the report as part of its ongoing investigation launched in 2022 into these six PBMs: CVS Caremark Rx, Express Scripts Inc., OptumRx Inc., Humana Pharmacy Solutions, Prime Therapeutics LLC, MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc.
