Like the main character in her debut novel “Sublimation,” a South Korean immigrant who confronts the replicate of her that was created when she emigrated to the U.S., Isabel J. Kim’s identity has been partitioned.

Between the deals she brokers as a corporate associate for global law firm Dechert, Kim has fostered a career as a speculative sci-fi writer that has led to a seven-figure book deal and a TV adaptation with Universal International Studios. The 28-year-old University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School graduate has amassed an adoring internet fan base with her introspective short fiction and irreverent social media presence.
