The lower of the EU’s top court Wednesday ruled against TikTok owner ByteDance in a legal challenge the Chinese social media company had brought over the EU Digital Markets Act.
Wednesday’s judgment marked the first legal test for the EU’s stringent new digital competition rulebook. Companies that fail to comply with the dos and don’ts of the DMA can be fined up to 10% of their global turnover.
