Summer Associate Programs Remain ‘a Special Place to Build a Career’

Another year means another class of summer associates in New Jersey, and this year’s class remains strong. A total of 100 summer associates were hired across the surveyed firms, which is slightly above the total of the last two years. Similar to the last three years, the average number of summer associates per firm was just over four (4.2 in 2024; 4.3 in 2023), which shows that firms have remained consistent in the post-pandemic hiring landscape.

There were several new firms included in the survey this year: Barnes & Thornburg; Laddey Clark & Ryan; Lindabury, McCormick, Estabrook & Cooper; and Trenk Isabel Siddiqi & Shahdanian. Even with the inclusion of these new firms, the numbers remained steady, which suggests the continued hiring of summer associates is a statewide trend.
