Sale of Premier League’s Everton FC Runs Into Dispute As League Considers Final Approval

Ahead of an impending decision on approval of the sale of the professional football club Everton FC by the English Premier League, a financier sued the company behind the acquisition, who struck back the next day in a motion filed in Miami’s state court calling the lawsuit a “sham pleading.”

Angela de Cespedes, a partner at Saul Ewing in Miami, represents the defendants, Joshua Wander and 777 Partners LLC. They alleged the request by the plaintiff, Nakula Management Ltd., for relief that “seeks an unqualified and unlimited injunction should be rejected” in part because it relies on “hearsay, unsubstantiated gossip, and demonstrable falsehoods.”
