New York’s top court on Tuesday kept a gag order in effect that bars former President Donald Trump from speaking about jurors, witnesses and others in his criminal trial for falsification of business records in connection with hush money payments to cover up an alleged sexual liaison with an adult film star.
Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for president in the 2024 election, was found guilty in May on 34 counts of falsifying business records—a misdemeanor that rose to a felony because they were done in furtherance of another crime—in this case, tampering with the 2016 election by hiding reports of wrongdoing from voters.
