The Federal Trade Commission’s final rule making most noncompete agreements illegal won’t result in an outright ban on severance agreements or training repayment clawbacks. Nor will it strip employers of their intellectual property rights.
Such were some of the assurances from the FTC’s Office of Policy Planning during a hearing Tuesday to explain key provisions of the agency’s noncompete ban, set to take effect Sept. 4.
