This year’s compilation of the 20 largest personal injury recoveries includes awards reported by the Law Journal between July 2, 2023, and Aug. 1, 2024.
The largest award this year by far, $425 million, was a multidistrict litigation against AstraZeneca, who agreed to pay the sum to settle lawsuits from about 11,000 consumers alleging they suffered kidney injuries after taking Nexium and Prilosec. A significant number of these actions came before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the New Jersey Superior Court.
