James Weingarten, the chief trial counsel at the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, has re-entered the private sector, joining Milbank as a partner in its global antitrust and competition and litigation groups in Washington, D.C., the firm said Monday.
Weingarten, who led the FTC’s efforts as first chair in its antitrust actions against Microsoft’s $69 billion buy of Activision, was also the lead trial counsel for the commission’s successful challenge of NVidia’s attempted $40 billion acquisition of ARM Holdings. And he was the lead counsel in the FTC’s challenge to Kroger’s $26 billion buy of Albertsons.
