New York’s chief administrative judge would gain authority to institute e-filing programs in lower courts where it’s not already in use, under a bill passed by the state Legislature that Gov. Kathy Hochul is being asked to sign.
The measure, S7524/A10350, which the New York Legislature approved before it concluded its session in recent days, points out that e-filing isn’t mandatory in certain major classes of civil cases in state Supreme Court, such as matrimonial and Article 78 cases against state agencies and government.
