Hemp manufacturers, distributors and retailers filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on March 1 against New York cannabis regulators for enacting regulations that effectively shuttered a large portion of the industry “overnight” in December, with the state now engaged in warrantless raids, the complaint alleges.
The New York State Cannabis Control Board enacted regulations for cannabinoid hemp that placed severe limits on THC content, forcing the industry to remove previously lawful products from their shelves, the lawsuit in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, stated.
