Looking to capture the rising tide of legal needs in the Rocky Mountain West’s “Silicon Slope,” a group of commercial litigators in Kirkland & Ellis’ Salt Lake City office is relocating to Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in the same city.

Commercial litigation partner Jess Krannich—one of the partners responsible for launching Kirkland’s Salt Lake City office in 2021, he said—started at the California-born Am Law 50 firm last week. He was followed this week by Paul Sampson, who traded his income partner status at Kirkland for an of counsel title at Wilson Sonsini. The latter firm doesn’t have income partners.
