The fact that generative artificial intelligence has reigned over the conversation mill at the International Legal Technology Association Conference 2024 (ILTACON) should not surprise anyone. However, the way companies—at least some companies—are talking about the technology has markedly changed since 2023.

For one, generative AI integrations alone are no longer big news. Rather, more providers are trying to highlight the specific purpose of their AI use (‘purpose-built AI’ in tech-speak), the UI/UX that enables users to interact with it, and the soup of large language models that power their solutions.
