Georgia U.S. District Judge Michael L. Brown has denied two bids to reduce a $2.3 million trademark infringement verdict awarded to Republic, a cigarette rolling paper company, in 2023.
“We are obviously happy with the outcome. This is a very clear and definitive win,” Republic counsel Maia Woodhouse of Adams and Reese said of the Feb. 20 order. “When we were briefing it we were comfortable in the evidence, we were comfortable in the law that supported the jury verdict, but it’s gratifying that the court agreed in such a well-reasoned and thought-out opinion.”
