The Federal Trade Commission will launch an investigation to determine whether consumers are receiving competitive and affordable prices at the grocery store, FTC Chair Lina Khan said Thursday.
“I’ll be asking [the] commission to join me in launching an inquiry into grocery prices to shed light on why it is that prices and profits remain so high, even as costs appear to come down,” Khan said at the first public meeting of a multiagency task force on unfair and illegal pricing.
