Former U.S. diplomat Victor Manuel Rocha was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to serving as a foreign agent to Cuba for decades. But the former Foley & Lardner adviser has more legal troubles, as he faces a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from the death of a Cuban dissident.
Before landing a job as a senior international business adviser at Foley & Lardner’s Miami office, Rocha worked within the Department of State for nearly 25 years. During his time in government, Rocha worked his way up starting as an international relations officer in 1981 then eventually serving as U.S. Ambassador to Bolivia in 2000. In between those roles, Rocha had access to classified information and at one point held a senior role with responsibility over Cuban affairs, according to his plea agreement.
