Hip-hop band Beastie Boys, represented by Rimon Law partner Michael Lazaroff, filed a copyright infringement complaint against the parent company of restaurant chain Chili’s on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The complaint alleges that, starting in late 2022, Texas-based Brinker International Inc. encouraged the creation and posting of social media videos using Beastie Boys songs without the permission of the rights’ owners. One video included significant portions of the band’s 1994 song “Sabotage,” it said.
