Even with interest broadly running hot in 2024, don’t expect Barnes & Thornburg to announce a merger anytime soon.
The leader of the Am Law 100 firm said in an interview this month that its growth mantra is mostly “philosophically” at odds with combinations, and the Indianapolis-founded firm would only consider it “if a lot of really stringent standards were met.” But, managing partner Andy Detherage said, don’t count on anything like that this year.
