International law firm Baker McKenzie expanded its footprint in Saudi Arabia by acquiring a majority stake in its long-term associated firm, Legal Advisors, Abdulaziz Alajlan & Partners, which will now operate under the name Baker McKenzie Law Firm. Additionally, Baker McKenzie has received a Regional Headquarters (RHQ) license from the Saudi Ministry of Investment, which aims to bolster Saudi Arabia’s strategic role as a central investment hub in the Middle East. The firm’s RHQ will be located in Riyadh and will be managed by Karim Nassar, currently a senior legal consultant in Riyadh.
Baker McKenzie joins the growing list of law firms that have secured RHQ licenses in the last few years including White & Case, Latham & Watkins, and Greenberg Traurig.
