Citing attorney-client privilege, dozens of law firms are urging a federal appeals court to reverse a judge’s order that required a company to turn over documents from internal investigations conducted by Jones Day and Squire Patton Boggs.
Kirkland & Ellis, Cooley and DLA Piper are among 39 prominent law firms that told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit that the trial judge erroneously held that attorney-client privilege doesn’t apply to the records because the internal investigations were launched for a business-related, not litigation-related, purpose.
