A New York State appeals court unanimously reinstated a medical malpractice lawsuit against Ellis Hospital and a number of treating physicians that argues a teen wouldn’t have died had she been prescribed the proper medication for a tick-borne disease.
Powers & Santola managing partner Amber L. Wright won the appeal on behalf of the estate of a 16-year-old girl who died by brain edema, with evidence of meningitis, in September 2015, which was 17 days after the teen visited defendant Ellis Hospital’s urgent care facility in Clifton Park.
