The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Pennsylvania has sued the state over its current $7.5 million budget for the funding of indigent defense in the state, claiming the budget fails to ensure those who cannot afford representation are provided with such.
In a June 13 complaint, the ACLU and numerous pro bono firms, including Dechert, accuse the state of failing to properly ensure those who cannot afford an attorney in criminal suits are provided with free representation.
