On October 14, 2022, Norelle Medina gave birth, and about two weeks later her employer Burandt, Adamski, Feichthaler & Sanchez fired her, according to a lawsuit filed in Florida federal court Thursday.
Medina had been working at the Cape Coral full-service law firm as a paralegal when the firm allegedly agreed to let her take paid maternity leave for those two weeks after her child’s birth, then work remotely until January. But during her agreed maternity leave, the firm asked Medina to work remotely and later found out the paid leave was counted towards her paid time off, according to court records.
