Following a hearing last week on Prime Hydration’s motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit accusing the drink of containing cancer-causing chemicals, co-owner and founder Logan Paul attempted to dispel the claims in a video posted on TikTok.
Attorneys from Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman filed the consumer class action in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of Elizabeth Castillo against Prime Hydration in August, claiming the company’s branded grape sports drink is falsely advertised and marketed as “healthy” and filled with antioxidants, electrolytes and vitamins. However, independent testing has revealed that the product contains per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and synthetic, human-made chemicals that have been shown to have a number of toxicological effects and have been associated with thyroid disorders, immunotoxicity effects and various cancers.
