Mining is the order of the day in Canada, with the second multibillion-dollar deal in a month announced and two court challenges in the mining sector coming to light this week.

McCarthy Tétrault, Bennett Jones, and Cassels Brock & Blackwell are the legal advisers in South African-based Gold Fields Ltd. CA$2.16 billion (US$1.57 billion) acquisition of Canada’s Osisko Mining in an all-cash transaction.
