2024 Layoffs: How to Navigate the Downsizing Trend

Tech and finance companies may have led the pack but weren’t the only ones that kicked off 2024 with layoffs. Media, retail and other industries have been downsizing as well, a pattern that is anticipated to continue throughout the rest of the year, according to a recent report from Randstad RiseSmart.

While not entirely surprising—the new year is often a time of restructuring and reorganization for businesses, plus many corporations are still rebalancing their workforces following the 2021-22 hiring frenzy—the circumstances can be challenging, particularly for in-house legal counsel.
