For tech companies, one antitrust expert says to stay tuned for more scrutiny of relationships with operating systems and platforms after a ruling against Google in the federal government’s antitrust suit. And benefit to consumers from such relationships might not provide a sufficient defense to antitrust charges. 

On Monday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that Google has violated U.S antitrust law with its search business. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta wrote in Monday’s opinion, “Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly.”
