A High Court judge in the U.K. has struck down an attempt to exclude thousands of claimants from pursuing compensation for damages caused by a devastating dam collapse in 2015 at a mine co-operated in Brazil by BHP Group.
The case in English courts has ballooned to represent more than 600,000 victims of the disaster at the Samarco iron ore complex that’s jointly owned by BHP, which is represented by Slaughter and May, and Brazilian miner Vale, represented by White & Case.
