The judicial shortage in New Jersey’s courts has had an uneven impact, with some counties seeing civil and matrimonial trials suspended due to a shortage of jurists, while others have no vacancies at all. A third group falls somewhere in the middle, such as Middlesex County.

Litigators practicing in Middlesex County say scheduling trials is easier and more predictable than other counties, and they’re acutely aware that conditions could be worse if they practiced in another part of New Jersey.
