In a Friday evidentiary hearing, Beasley Allen partner Andy Birchfield refuted accusations from Johnson & Johnson that he opposed the company’s bankruptcy plans out of a desire to collect higher fees out of the talcum powder litigation.

Birchfield, facing possible disqualification from the talc litigation over his work with a former Johnson & Johnson lawyer, said his disapproval of the bankruptcy deal was based on client interests.
