I’m going to point you to a video that Judge Scott Schlegel of Louisiana’s Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal posted to his must-follow [sch]Legal Tech substack. Schlegel, who spent a decade on the state’s trial bench before being elected to the appellate court last year, has long been a proponent of embracing technology to make the courts more user-friendly. But he’s also been forthcoming with his worries about how he and his colleagues on the bench will deal with deepfakes and other tech-related evidentiary issues as they come up in court proceedings. 

So back to that video: In it, you see Schelgel talking about having read an article about a federal judicial panel’s discussion last month about whether or not the current rules on authenticity and admissibility are adequate to deal with AI-generated evidence.
