A lawyer for nine survivors of wildfires that ravaged Oregon over Labor Day 2020 asked jurors on Tuesday to award them at least $45 million in damages.

The trial, in Multnomah County Circuit Court, is the second in a class action of residents and businesses with property damages caused by the wildfires. On June 9 of last year, a previous jury found Pacific Power and its owner, PacifiCorp, liable for the wildfires. Now, a portion of those class members—totaling an estimated 5,000—are seeking economic and noneconomic damages.
