Top Court Set to Eye Trucking Industry’s Claim That E-Logging Device Violates Drivers’ Privacy

A national trade association for commercial truckers will ask the New York Court of Appeals to restrain the state from requiring that they use electronic logging devices to record their hours behind the wheel.

Plaintiffs in the case, captioned Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association v. New York State Department of Transportation, argue the rule is a warrantless search that violates the long-distance haulers’ privacy.
