A Manhattan jury retired Wednesday morning, following a 70-minute charging conference during which acting Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan read them the law as it applies to the criminal case against former President Donald Trump.
Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, under New York State Penal Law § 175.10. Prosecutors contend Trump also violated New York Election Law 17-152, elevating the charges to a felony.
