John Quinn, partner and founder of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, has taken on two new roles in recent years, both unexpected and for different reasons.

In a shake-up of leadership for the first time in the firm’s 36-year history, Quinn stepped down as managing partner in 2022 to become chairman of the leading litigation firm. That same year, Quinn, regarded as one of the top trial lawyers in the world, also became a podcast host, launching “Law, disrupted.” Since then, Quinn has interviewed dozens of guests, delving into such subjects as the U.K.’s legal culture and the art of cross-examination, and interviewing a lawyer who serves in the International Law Department of the Israel Defense Forces, advising on issues related to the laws of war and how they apply to operations in Gaza.
