Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has agreed to pay $8 million to settle claims with members of a class action who said their personal information was compromised in a data breach that affected more than 600,000 people, according to settlement documents filed in federal court last week.
The settlement, coming after eight months of litigation in California federal court, could see class members receive up to $2,500 for out-of-pocket expenses, $7,500 for “extraordinary losses,” $125 for up to five hours of attested time and $150 for subclass members’ California Consumer Privacy Act claims, documents state.
