Gov. Kathy Hochul has signed legislation allowing New York-licensed attorneys to serve as poll watchers anywhere in the state, regardless of whether the lawyer resides in the city or county in which the election takes place.

Hochul signed S.6130A/A.530A and six other bills on Tuesday, which are intended to strengthen voting protections and make it easier for voters to cast ballots. It takes effect immediately.
