On her move and rapid rise within the New York State Inspector General’s office, after a long career in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Michele Bayer recalled an important question from her young son during the height of the pandemic:

Bayer said her then seven-year-old son, who was growing more accustomed to the nature Bayer’s work since she was working from home more often, asked her: “Mom, can you find a job where you talk about less violent things?”
