The case opened in Manhattan federal court after District Judge Kymberly K. Evanson for the Western District of Washington granted the cross-country transfer as stipulated by the parties. The lawsuit accuses Amazon of harming competition in the audiobook retail distribution market and depressing the earnings of self-published authors.

An antitrust class action filed against Amazon.com Inc. in Seattle federal court has now moved to the Southern District of New York as Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and Sidley Austin defend the online retail giant.

Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro managing partner Steve W. Berman filed the lawsuit on June 13 on behalf of CD Reiss, the pen name under which Christine DeMaio has self-published dozens of audiobooks for sale on the Amazon marketplace.
