I’m Alaina Lancaster, the new editor in chief for litigation and ALM’s Law.com brand. You might’ve seen me around subbing in on the Morning Minute, as the former co-host of the Legal Speak podcast or from my reporting as an editor for our California-based brand The Recorder. One of the aspects of this new role that I’m most excited about is getting to meet even more litigators and legal professionals from around the country, but I think it’s only fair I share a few things about myself first.

I’ve had to introduce myself to a handful of different audiences throughout my journalism career, and I’ve learned a few lessons along the way. First, just because I grew up in a corn field-laden stretch of northern Illinois on the border of Wisconsin, doesn’t necessarily mean I need to make my whole personality about cheese, as I did in one of my very first news bios. Although, my past life as a reporter covering restaurants and foodservice does mean that I have some very big opinions on everything from foie gras to roller grills.
