Several federal appellate courts over the past year have revived lawsuits accusing universities of breaching contracts with students by switching to remote learning at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit heard one such class action suit claiming the University of Rhode Island breached a contract with its students by moving to virtual classes but charging the same amount in tuition and fees.
