Controversial physician Dr. Stella Immanuel filed a defamation lawsuit on Thursday in Virginia Eastern District Court against Tegna, a broadcast and digital media company which owns KHOU-11 in Houston, Texas. The complaint accuses the defendant of make false and misleading claims about Immanuel’s views on COVID-19, including her advocacy of using hydroxychloroquine to treat the disease. The suit is backed by Steven S. Biss, an infamous defamation attorney known for his representation of former U.S. Representative David Nunes. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:22-cv-01252, Immanuel v. Tegna Inc.
