Beijing has decided that Hong Kong courts should get approval from the city’s chief executive before allowing a foreign lawyer to act on national security cases.
The decision follows an interpretation of the national security law, which was sought by Hong Kong’s chief executive, John Lee, from the National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPC), in November.
