U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York on March 31 granted summary judgment for the plaintiffs in a pair of long-running breach of contract lawsuits against the Republic of Argentina, clearing the way for proceedings to determine the appropriate damages.

Atlanta-based King & Spalding and Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick and Clement & Murphy, both based in Washington, D.C., represent the plaintiffs Petersen Energia and Eton Park Capital Management, which filed suits in 2015 and 2016 alleging that Argentina violated its contractual obligations while retaking control of the oil company YPF.
