Technology companies looking to block a new minimum wage law for delivery workers from taking effect in New York City cannot demonstrate the irreparable injury necessary for a preliminary injunction, the New York City Law Department argues in newly filed opposition papers.

Uber, DoorDash, Grubhub and Relay Delivery sued earlier this month in Manhattan Supreme Court to stop a new New York City law that would require the companies to pay their app delivery workers a starting wage of $17.96. Acting Supreme Court Justice Nicholas Moyne issued a temporary restraining order on July 7, preventing the law from taking effect July 12.
