A federal judge sentenced Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, the chief operating officer of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes’ former lover, to 155 months, or nearly 13 years, in prison.
In a sentencing hearing Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Edward Davila of the Northern District of California, who is overseeing the case, said “Holmes is part of this case, but she’s not part of this sentence,” Davila said. The sentence “is individualized for Mr. Balwani.”
