Edison International was slapped with a negligence lawsuit on May 4 in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County in relation to the Bobcat Fire. The lawsuit accuses the defendant of failing to maintain a clearance between its energized conductors and vegetation; failing to cut dead or rotten trees; and failing to de-energize its electrical circuit to prevent a wildfire during a red flag warning. The lawsuit was filed by Robertson & Associates; Foley Bezek Behle & Curtis; Spreter & Petiprin; and the Law Offices of Joseph Liebman on behalf of a property owners whose homes were damaged by the Bobcat Fire. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 23STCV10030, Leeper-Fry v. Southern California Edison Company.
