Boies Schiller Flexner is facing significant resistance as it attempts to drop representation of hundreds of Colombians who are suing banana grower Chiquita Brands International for funding a paramilitary force that allegedly killed their family members.

The civil litigation, filed in the Southern District of Florida and being heard by Judge Kenneth Marra, stems from Chiquita’s 2007 admission that the company paid protection fees to a paramilitary group so that Chiquita could keep producing bananas in the South American country.
