A federal judge is giving the American Italian Women for Greater New Haven another opportunity to amend its complaint against the City of New Haven for its decision to remove a statute of Christopher Columbus from Wooster Square.
In an order filed Jan. 5 in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Judge Janet C. Hall— for a second time—granted the City of New Haven’s motion to dismiss the plaintiff’s complaint. Hall is giving the American Italian Women for Greater New Haven (AIW), a non-profit organization known for scholarship, charitable, and social events, another chance to show that it had personal stake in the controversy.
