For decades, Thomson Reuters has been a staple technology and legal services provider for many legal professionals. But over the past few years, it’s distinctly changed the shape of its presence in the legal market. The company’s recent sale of a majority stake of its Elite products business, which includes 3E, ProLaw, eBillingHub and Mattersphere, to private equity firm TPG Inc. is just the latest example of an ongoing evolution.
“We’re always looking at our offerings, and our businesses, really at our portfolio, and then aligning that with the strategic direction of where we’re trying to go as a company. And Elite, quite frankly, it addresses a critical need, but it’s quite different from everything else we do,” said Paul Fischer, president, Legal Professionals at Thomson Reuters.
